For Everyone’s Safety, Cooley Dickinson Restricts Visitors

November 16, 2020

Effective Nov. 16, 2020 at 12 noon, Cooley Dickinson Hospital is restricting visitors to most hospitalized patients. The new visitor policy has been put in place due to the increase of COVID-19 infection in our community.

For the safety of our patients and employees, inpatients can have one visitor per day. Nursing supervisors may make exceptions on a case-by-case basis such as:

  • Compassionate care situations/end of life
  • Support persons for patients with intellectual/physical disabilities
  • Two parents/guardians for patients under 18 years of age

Visitors are not allowed to accompany patients having surgery or outpatient procedures; exceptions of one visitor are allowed for pediatric patients and those who are unable to make decisions for themselves. The visitor policy in the Childbirth Center does not change: one visitor is allowed in addition to a partner/spouse/support person.

Visiting hours are 12 pm to 8 pm, 7 days per week. The inpatient behavioral health unit has different visiting hours, which are weekdays from 5:15 to 6:45 pm; weekends/holidays from 2 to 5 pm.
