With Rising Rates of COVID, Cooley Dickinson Hospital Updates its Visitor Policy; COVID-19 Asymptomatic Testing Reminder

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – Due to high rates of COVID-19 in our community and per new public health guidance, including from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, which is being applied to all Mass General Brigham facilities in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, we encourage visitors to delay their visit until a later date when there are lower rates of community transmission.

Updated Visitor Policy
Effective Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022, hospitalized patients are allowed one visitor within a 24-hour period; a support person is considered in addition to the one, single visitor.

Visiting hours at Cooley Dickinson Hospital are daily from 2 to 8 pm. Visiting hours for the Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit is Monday through Friday, 5:15 to 6:45 pm; weekends and holidays, 2 to 5 pm.

There are no changes to Cooley Dickinson’s visitor policy related to the Emergency Department, Childbirth Center, Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit, Surgical Day Care, Endoscopy or Cardiovascular Interventional Radiology suite. Read the updated policy here.

Reminder about COVID-19 Testing
Due to high patient volume and the need to focus on the patients who require emergency care, COVID-19 testing for individuals who do not have symptoms is not available in the Emergency Department.

A list of available testing locations is available here.
