The Cooley Dickinson Community Newsletter

Beginning in the fall of 2018, Cooley Dickinson Health Care revived its periodic community newsletter. Formerly known as The Pulse, and since renamed Advancing Your Health, the newsletter features updates on new providers and newly available technology, alongside palpable patient stories about personal health challenges, treatment and recovery. Advancing Your Health also contains information on upcoming classes, lectures and other community events; plus interviews with patients, providers and profiles of some of our newest programs and services.

FALL 2020 Newsletter

Cooley Dickinson is happy to be back to publishing its community newsletter, Advancing Your Health. Since you last heard from us, we have been busy. With this fall issue 2020, we introduce new radiation treatment technology for people with cancer. Our new linear accelerator expands the types of cancers that can be treated with radiation locally in our community. We report on a Hadley mom, who benefitted from the wisdom, compassion and guidance of her midwives. (Birthing during a pandemic was clearly not what she anticipated!) We tell you about our commitment to safe care and how we can help you get the care you need (hint: telephone and video visits are the new normal.) Cooley Dickinson’s A Positive Place reflects on how their dedicated staff provided care to vulnerable people during the pandemic. And there is help for those struggling with foot and ankle ailments. Meet our latest orthopedic surgeon, Brian Hoffman, MD, via livestream on Oct. 1 at 6 pm. Plus Urgent Care in Amherst is now open at 170 University Drive.

FALL 2019 Newsletter

Fall is a time for reflection, and what better way to reflect than to celebrate the generations of babies born at Cooley Dickinson? In this issue, we feature our roll-out of the #imacooleybaby campaign to invite people of all ages to share the joy (including a then-and-now photo sweepstakes!) of where they got their start. We also welcome Medical Director of Radiation Oncology John Sheldon, MD, and announce Next-Day Appointments at the Mass General Cancer Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital for people newly diagnosed with cancer. It takes a dedicated team to earn designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation as an LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader, which Cooley Dickinson has done for a third consecutive year. And if you’re not one of the 25,000 users who has signed up for Partners Patient Gateway, an electronic health record, why not give it a try. The latest feature allows patients to view most clinical communications between their providers. We welcome input from our community. Reach us here.
