My Philosophy

“As a medical oncologist who has practiced in Northampton for more than 30 years, I recognize that good care requires good communication. This means listening to patients and families, collaborating with colleagues, and providing our patients with generous support for decision-making in diagnosis and treatment. Our relationships with subspecialists at the Mass General Cancer Center provide a depth of expertise that we can readily pass on to our patients.”

Dr. Smith graduated magna cum laude from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois, with a bachelor’s degree in literature. She earned her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. A member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 1993, she is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and serves as a member-at-large of the Medical Staff Executive Committee at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. She resides in Leeds.
