My Philosophy

Having been widowed and a single Dad to four children for a decade, being happily remarried and being a cancer survivor have taught me more about practicing medicine than all the textbooks and seminars in the world could do.

Medicine's golden rule is Primum non nocere, "First do no harm.” To this, I add "Believe what the patient tells you," and “Don't change what’s working.” Honoring these three simple rules allows a physician to make unexpected diagnoses, to develop individual treatment plans, and to tailor those plans to the patient’s needs and response. Practicing medicine this way takes more time but gives better results.
