My Philosophy

"Every patient is a person and deserves to be treated respectfully. When you see me in consultation, I listen first to what your concerns are and to what bothers you, and I examine the area in question.

Taking your concerns, body type, medical history and lifestyle into consideration, I use my training and experience to present options to you. Depending on the individual and the problem, sometimes not having any surgery is the best option, and sometimes a major surgery is the best option. We discuss the possibilities and together come up with a solution that is right for you."

Dr. Simone Topal was born in Manhattan and grew up here in Northampton. After graduating from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, she traveled to Israel, where she completed a postgraduate program at the World Union of Jewish Students (WUJS) Institute in Arad. Dr. Topal earned her medical degree at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1997.

Returning to New England, Dr. Topal  completed a combined general and plastic surgery internship and residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, as well as the VA Outcomes Group Research Fellowship in White River Junction, VT.

In 2003, Dr. Topal became involved with the international humanitarian organization Interplast (now called ReSurge International), which provides free reconstructive surgery to children and adults in underdeveloped countries. She initially spent a year traveling in Southeast Asia and South America as a fellow with the group, and continued to participate in surgical trips annually for several years.

Dr. Topal was an attending plastic surgeon and clinical instructor of plastic surgery at Dartmouth before moving back to Northampton, where she now lives with her husband and two children. Dr. Topal is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
