I am committed to bringing optimal health and wellness into care of patients throughout their lifetimes. I am dedicated to holding and honoring the sacred space of birth, acknowledging that this is often different for each patient. I believe in reproductive justice and healthcare equity, and work to provide access to care for all members of our community.
Tara first became exposed to midwifery in 1993, in Dorpattan, Nepal, during a home stay with a Tibetan family. The first night she arrived, the oldest daughter went into labor and was attended by her mother (the village midwife), and her grandmother. She has volunteered as a health care provider in Nicaragua and at inner cities domestically. For the last 15 years of her career, Tara has worked as a nurse midwife at Baystate Medical Center Springfield. At Baystate, she served as a faculty member for the midwifery education program, and was a preceptor for medical students and residents.
Tara has practiced yoga since she was a teenager, and has been teaching pre- and post-natal yoga for the past 20 years. She likes to bounce on her family’s trampoline, and is an avid mountain-climber and a cook. Above all she loves being a mama to her two amazing kids.
