Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Orthopedic & Sports Medicine now offers a walk-in, no appointment necessary orthopedic injury clinic at a second, Amherst location, as part of the new Orthopedics & Sports Medicine practice at 170 University Drive. The Amherst clinic opens in addition to the Hatfield Orthopedic Injury clinic, which is located at the practice’s main offices.
Joining a growing complex of Cooley Dickinson practices that includes primary care, imaging and lab services, the clinic is easily accessible from East and West (Hadley/Amherst), situated across from the Big Y Plaza at the intersection of University Drive and Rte. 9. The clinic will help diagnose and treat a variety of acute injuries, including:
- Sprains and strains
- Sports injuries
- Foot, ankle, knee and hip injuries
- Hand, forearm, elbow and shoulder injuries
- Fractures and dislocations
- Pediatric injuries
- Infected nails
The Orthopedic Injury Clinic is located at 170 University Drive in Amherst, Mass., and will be open from 8 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; no appointment is necessary.

The Orthopedic Injury Clinic does not treat concussions, chronic injuries, neck, back or hip pain. If you suspect a more severe break or head injury, go directly to the Emergency Department at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Please make an appointment with the practice for any chronic/ongoing injury – the clinic is only for acute injuries that have occurred within the last two weeks and have not been previously treated.*
*Patients who go to the ED or Urgent Care and then come to the walk-in clinic for follow-up with an orthopedic specialist are appropriate.
